‘Blessed By The Grim’ is a haunting song that delves into the life of a fictional character plagued by eternal misfortune and suffering. The song serves as a powerful reminder to those struggling with personal challenges, aiming to provide them with a sense of acknowledgment and understanding. With its compelling melodic verses and disquieting pre-choruses, the song draws the listener into the character's psyche, effectively portraying a world of hardship and agony. The eerie spoken section in the middle of the song intensifies the theme, depicting a haunting scene of despair and desolation. Transitioning into a mournful and harmonious bridge, the song builds to an epic crescendo with soaring guitars and haunting harmonies, culminating in a sorrowful yet powerful conclusion.
"Blessed by the Grim" is a song that evolved from long-forgotten old demos. The main verse riff, which embodies a signature groove-feel inspired by Pantera, underwent multiple rewrites before taking its final form. The song's development was somewhat unconventional, with the outro originating from a bass riff in an old demo, later reworked by lead guitarist Dion to infuse an epic crescendo into the composition. The intro riff, added at the very end of the creative process, introduces a tension-building element before transitioning into the song's groove. Drum parts, initially written by former drummer Drona Antony and refined by current drummer Raeansh Negi, contributed to the song's unique sound. The band, committed to maintaining their self-produced status, worked on the song's production at the esteemed 105 Studio, owned by local death metal musician Ahmed Gamil of Reprobate. Engineers Hijazi, Dion, and Tomi collaborated with Ahmed to ensure that the song received the production it deserved. Dion handled the mixing, and Tomislav took charge of the mastering.
The single was released Friday, 23rd August, 2024 and is available on all digital streaming and download platform.
