My visual universe is surrealistic, colorful and dark at the same time.

The Rolling Loud festival makes its debut in New York this weekend, with a powerful lineup including some of the biggest names in hip-hop.

Lil Baby will be showing creative flair thanks to 21-year old creative director Treasure Donaldson. Raised in Baltimore, Maryland and currently residing in Atlanta, Georgia the full-time creative director attended the Fashion Institute of technology briefly before starting her lustrous career.

Lil Baby's creative director for Rolling Loud 2021, how did that come about?

Lil Baby actually reached out to me personally and said he needed a Creative Director on his team for his shows and I whipped up something that night and the rest was history.

What is your favorite part of being a creative director?

My favorite part about being a creative director is the ability to story-tell through different media.

How much creative space are you given in terms of working with Lil Baby? Do you get to have the final say in terms of creative decisions? How is it like working with Lil Baby?

Lil Baby knows what he likes and doesn’t like. Overall have a lot of creative freedom to be able to bring him whatever idea I come up with. There usually aren’t any guidelines to what he wants to create. But I can say make sure he is hands-on in the final reviewing process to approve that everything goes with his brand and he genuinely likes it.

Would you consider this your biggest gig to date? How would you rank this on your list of achievements?

I would definitely say this is my biggest gig today but not necessarily one of my biggest achievements. It’s never about who the client is for me and more so how deep I can get into storytelling, those projects tend to fall higher in the rank of achievements.

It’s never about who the client is

What's next for Treasure?

Well, I’m currently working on my first short film which is expected to release at the top of 2022. I’m super excited about that. My life for the most part is unplanned so I never know what’s next, ever.

What would you advise artists who wish to take a similar venture as yours?

My advice to creatives would be to create by any means necessary. Don’t limit yourself because of your lack of tools and resources. My career didn’t happen overnight and I had to use the limited tools and resources I had in the beginning. To start somewhere and practice producing results. You never know what rooms your work is going to be talked about in. Stay ready!
