Italian R&B has been significantly influenced by iconic artists such as Eros Ramazzotti and Laura Pausini, who have made significant contributions to the genre while also venturing into pop music.
More recently, emerging artists like Mahmood and Ghali have injected the Italian R&B scene with innovative sounds, blending hip-hop and urban music to bring a fresh twist to the genre. Enter TARA.
TARA, a talented Palestinian singer originally from Italy, navigated the challenges of growing up in a foreign country. Her journey involved overcoming feelings of shame about her identity, and struggling with stereotypes and the fear of being bullied. This led her to often conceal her background in an effort to protect herself.
TARA encountered significant racism, both online and in person, and in hindsight, she believes that having someone to advocate for her country would have made things much easier. These experiences have shaped her into the proud Palestinian woman she is today, driven by a desire to establish a secure and supportive environment for children who have faced or are currently facing similar challenges,
"I want to represent my culture," she proudly says.
TARA embarked on her musical journey around 2 to 3 years ago. Just last month, she delighted her fans by releasing her third single, a captivating blend of Arab&B music—a term coining Arab and R&B. "I’m happy to know that my vision and mission are helping a lot of people out there," she says. "I have always loved writing, and I usually do not force the flow," she adds confidently sipping on a lemonade.
Her creative process typically begins with a stream of consciousness or a strong concept, as she is deeply receptive to various emotions and experiences. Simultaneously, she possesses a diligent and imaginative mindset, constantly striving to bring her multitude of ideas and concepts to life. When she reaches that level, "I just get into the studio and flow with the vibe," she flaunts.

Commenting on the R&B music scene, she expresses her viewpoint on the subject. "I think that today the R&B scene in Italy is something still very niche, it is still not recognized as a real genre." TARA anticipates rapid changes and foresees R&B emerging as the next big trend in Italy. TARA is leading the way in recognizing this shift.
"I think that my project has an added value, which is my culture, the languages, and the melodies, but especially my vision."
The artist states in reference to what she offers uniquely.
According to her, the response she has received up to this point has been mostly positive, with 80% expressing positive feedback and 20% providing negative feedback. This outcome aligns with her initial expectations. "I know that it is a new sound and Italians are still not very ready for it."
Tara is aware that many individuals require this type of representation, and she is pleased to provide it. She aims for her music to resonate with people on a profound level, and particularly wants to be a guiding voice during challenging and dystopian times.
"Italy needed a Palestinian representative and I’m ready to work hard to gain a spot in this full industry to scream our message."
Ever since TARA embarked on this project, she has learned that working in a cohesive and trustworthy team is crucial. Valuing and trusting teammates and their ideas is essential for success. Additionally, TARA has realized the importance of self-love, as no one else will do it for you. She encourages delving into your innermost self to discover one's true identity.
On a candid note, "My favourite food—I’m sorry Italy—is Palestinian MaQluba.
The R&B music movement in Italy is steadily gaining momentum, with numerous talented artists leveraging social media and streaming platforms to expand their fan base across the globe. This allows them to showcase their distinct Italian flair while captivating audiences worldwide.
