In just a matter of 3 years, she has already achieved what most people dream of in their lifetime.

Singapore’s Got Talent, KWC Singapore, Tour Music Fest are just a few of the array of mountains she has conquered. The Italian singer, songwriter, and performer based in Singapore push the boundaries of pop with her music and vocals. This accidental fashion model is more than just a face and needs no further introduction. Welcome Matilde G.

While honing her musical skills through intense training specializing in the study of rock&pop voice and learned how to play the piano and guitar she received her accreditations from the Trinity College of London.

Matilde G has always marched to beats of her own and is now set to bring that beat to her new single 'Doorbell.' Her ardor for music and performing knows no bounds as this young lady aims to not only reimagine the sounds of pop but make her mark in the global stage.

Hi Matilde. How are you? Please introduce yourself. Tell us about your musical journey.

Hey guys, I am good. I hope you are well! My name is Matilde G, I’m an Italian singer-songwriter based in Singapore. My music journey started when I was very young studying voice, piano, and music theory. Now I’m 16 years old and I’m trying my best to turn my passion into a career. I’m signed by The Kennel AB (Swedish label) in a joint venture with the local label Zendyll. We are working together to create deep roots for my future.

Tell us how you got into modeling.

A local photographer noticed me on Instagram where I used to post my music stuff. I agreed to collaborate for a one-off photoshoot and after that other local photographers started to contact me for legit modeling jobs. I love fashion, makeup and photography, but I didn’t mean to be a model. It just happened and I didn’t take it too seriously before.

What do you think is the correlation between fashion and music?

An artist needs to find his own style. Fashion is really important to communicate who you are, to express yourself.

Who do you look up to in both fashion and music?

My favourite singers are Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande and Dua Lipa, they have different styles but all of them inspired me a lot. For fashion I look up to Chiara Ferragni, her Italian style is unique!

How is the the music scene in Singapore? Is there anything that you want to change?

I’m very excited about the amazing music that is coming up in Singapore. I think we will see a lot of Singaporean artists go international soon. The only thing I would like to change is the local idea that being an artist is not a proper job but a hobby.

Mood!

They say what you wear affects your mood. Do you agree? Or is it the other way around?

Absolutely! During the recent lockdown, I used to dress up every day like I would be hanging out with my friends. This practice was really helpful to keep me in a mood good

Most memorable moment in your career?

Yesterday I was looking at the pictures of a big amazing concert in Nagoya, Japan. It was my last live performance before covid. I feel so nostalgic and frustrated at the same time. I can’t wait to share my music on stage again.

Any funny/embarrassing moment?

I tripped over a cable, I forgot the lyrics of my own song, I got hiccups during the performance, I sang with high fever and without a voice. A lot of embarrassing moments!

Tell us about 'Doorbell.'

My latest release is 'Doorbell,' a very fresh and teen pop song. It’s upbeat and energetic. It talks about a girl who wants to enjoy life. The music video is sparkling, colored and dynamic. Outfits, makeup and hairstyles are stunning. Please view it on YouTube when you get the chance! In terms of songwriting process, sometimes I write the lyrics first and then I compose the melody on Logic X. Other times I start playing my guitar or my piano and then the lyrics. Sometimes, if I’m really inspired, lyrics and melody come out together.

It’s upbeat and energetic.

How would you describe your sense of fashion?

My sense of fashion is young, sensual, comfortable, gritty, Italian. I don’t want to be influenced by past fashion eras. I prefer to be inspired by the future. However, if I was asked to choose, I would choose music. 100%! But if I wasn't a singer or model, I would have been a make-up artist. I have the creativity and skills. And it’s so relaxing!

What message would you like to leave our readers and aspiring artists?

Use your time to cultivate your passions. It won't be a job but a nice journey!

The stunning young lady began writing her songs at the age of 13. With the passion for singing and songwriting running through her veins from a very young age, she is on the verge of becoming the next global singing sensation.
