Jarvis Darko aka Flopnun Hoodis drills his way to a promising music career.

Flopnun redefines Dubai’s drill scene with authentic sound, raw energy, and relentless ambition, blending global influences with personal experiences.

The Rise of "Your Fav Rapper"

The hip-hop landscape's success is defined by authenticity and energy. Jarvis Darko aka Flopnun Hoodis is carving his own lane, fusing UK and US drill influences with the dynamic culture of Dubai. His identity extends beyond just the name. It embodies confidence, approachability, and a dedication to the drill movement.

"I developed the persona of Your Fav Rapper as a statement of confidence and authenticity. It’s about being relatable, delivering raw energy, and representing drill music in a way that resonates with my audience," he explains. Inspired by artists like Pop Smoke, Central Cee, and Headie One, he blends their influence with his personal experiences, creating a unique sound that reflects his journey.

INTERSECTION and the Live Performance Experience

Dubai’s music scene is evolving, and Flopnun is at the forefront of its drill movement. His involvement in INTERSECTION, a collaborative project featuring rising artists, marks a major milestone in his career.

"Being part of INTERSECTION is a big moment because it represents different artists coming together to showcase their talents. It’s an opportunity to reach new audiences and prove that Dubai’s music scene is growing."

He also recalls working with D-Bell, expressing excitement for his contribution:

"D-Bell gave me a hip-hop beat, and up till now, I’m glad I killed it for him. I can’t wait to listen when he releases the album."

Beyond the studio, performing live is where he truly connects with his audience. The energy, crowd reactions, and instant feedback fuel his motivation.

"Each performance sharpens my stage presence and helps me grow as an artist. And also now, I’m focusing more on freestyling to the audience or fans because through that, I see what my fans love most."

The Creative Process: Music Rooted in Real Life

For Flopnun, everything starts with the beat.

"My creative process starts with the beat—it sets the mood. Once I hear something that speaks to me, I freestyle melodies and flows before locking in lyrics."

His music is deeply personal, drawn from the realities of his day-to-day hustle in Dubai. Balancing a job at Amazon, participating in the SoleMate Run Club, and navigating the challenges of life all influence his lyrics.

"I rap about real life—grind, ambition, and the challenges I face. Everything I go through, whether wins or struggles, fuels my creativity."

Faith, Mental Strength, and Staying Grounded

The music industry is filled with pressures. Flopnun finds stability through faith and mental resilience.

Faith keeps him grounded.

"I believe in divine timing, and my journey in music is part of a bigger plan."

His faith gives him strength to keep pushing, even when things get tough.

He also emphasizes the importance of mental health in music, recognizing the toll that expectations, criticism, and personal struggles can take on an artist.

"Mental health is crucial, especially in the music industry, where pressure is high. It’s important to have outlets—whether it’s faith, fitness like my run club, or just surrounding yourself with the right people."

To maintain balance, he prioritizes self-care, knowing that burnout can hinder creativity and passion.

"I believe in staying mentally strong, taking breaks when needed, and keeping the passion alive without burning out."

Milestones and Future Aspirations

Reflecting on his journey so far, the drill-rapper highlights key moments that have shaped his career:

  1. Dropping his first song and receiving real feedback.
  2. Performing at major venues in Dubai and seeing the audience react to his music and freestyle.
  3. Gaining recognition from other artists and securing opportunities like INTERSECTION.
  4. Balancing a full-time job while actively pursuing music.

But this is just the beginning. He has solo projects in the works, including new singles, visuals, and an upcoming EP.

"Besides INTERSECTION, I have solo projects in the works. I’m focused on dropping more singles, visuals, and eventually an EP."

Flopnun looks to collaborate with artists in Dubai’s growing hip-hop and drill scene.

His long-term vision extends beyond music.

"I see myself growing as an artist, refining my sound, and reaching bigger audiences. In the coming years, I want to expand my brand beyond music into fashion, business, and mentorship for upcoming artists."

A Drill Artist with a Vision

With a relentless work ethic, an authentic sound, and a commitment to putting Dubai drill on the map, Your Fav Rapper is making his mark in the industry. His music goes beyond beats and lyrics. A reflection of his life, his struggles, and his ambition. And as he continues to grow, one thing is certain: the drill scene in Dubai has found a potential new voice.
