Creating art for a living is challenging. Creating art for a living in Dubai is on a different level of challenge.
In a land swarming with ex-pats and short-term residency visa grants, long-term plans are not the most effortless to make until the UAE government announced the Golden Visa grant. It is a government initiative to give long-term residency to enable exceptional talents to live in the country for an extended period.
DJ Sara G, a significant contributor to Dubai's creative space, is now a proud beneficiary of the UAE's Golden Visa initiative.
"As an artist, we experience many ups and downs both professionally and personally but when you have the government backing you and you can call a country home, it gives you the freedom to spread your wings and soar to new heights and achieve goals you never thought were possible," she says in an exclusive interview with musivv.
Sara finds herself on the go and in pursuit of a new residence when she is somewhere other than her decks. She recently traveled to Egypt for a full two months exploring the beaten-track parts of the country, meeting new people and communing with nature.
"I DJ'ed in several venues there and it opened my eyes to so much new music. I came back so inspired to hit the decks and to do so much cool stuff here."
Having been a loyal advocate of self-authenticity, Sara's online presence is an encouragement to many. When asked if there is anything she wants to change about herself, she says,
"I've finally come to a place of complete self-love and acceptance."
To the DJ, it's the only way to rise above all the chaos both outside and inside a person. "Nobody is perfect and once you fully accept that, you find a deep sense of inner peace which nobody and nothing can take away from you," she concludes.
